Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ceras-peg (PB(RA)-2020) is a biosimilar version of certolizumab pegol (Cimzia) being developed by Paras Biopharmaceuticals. It is a PEGylated antibody fragment (Fab) that specifically targets and neutralizes tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of various inflammatory diseases. The PEGylation of the Fab fragment is designed to extend the drug's half-life in the systemic circulation. Currently in preclinical development, Ceras-peg is primarily being investigated for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, aiming to provide a highly similar therapeutic profile to the originator product in terms of safety, efficacy, and quality.
