Overview

Cerasus humilis polyphenol refers to the mixture of polyphenolic compounds naturally present in the fruit of *Cerasus humilis* (Chinese dwarf cherry or Prunus humilis), a wild fruit tree endemic to China. These polyphenols, principally procyanidin B2, cyanidin-3-glucoside, pelargonidin-3-glucoside, various anthocyanins, flavonoids, and cinnamoylquinic acids, are recognized for their substantial antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-obesity activities. Mechanistically, cerasus humilis polyphenol reduces adipocyte differentiation by downregulating transcription factors such as PPARγ and C/EBPα, modulates lipid and glucose metabolism, decreases inflammatory mediators (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6, MCP1), improves oxidative stress parameters, and enhances Sirt1 expression. It has shown potential benefit in preclinical animal models to mitigate obesity, dyslipidemia, and oxidative stress, with additional evidence for immune modulation and potential applications in functional foods or dietary supplements[1][3][2][4].
