Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is an over-the-counter topical skincare product developed by CeraVe (a brand owned by L'Oréal) in collaboration with dermatologists. It is specifically formulated to cleanse the skin while maintaining its natural protective barrier, featuring three essential ceramides (1, 3, and 6-II) and hyaluronic acid. The product utilizes a patented Multivesicular Emulsion (MVE) technology, which ensures a steady release of moisturizing ingredients throughout the day. In clinical research, the University of Miami evaluated this cleanser alongside CeraVe Moisturizing Cream in a Phase 4 trial (NCT04724967) to assess its safety and efficacy in treating diabetes mellitus-related skin changes, particularly xerosis (dry skin). The study demonstrated significant improvements in skin hydration and patient satisfaction, highlighting the product's role in managing the compromised skin barrier often seen in diabetic patients.
