Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is a topical emollient and skin barrier repair product developed to provide long-lasting hydration and restore the skin's natural protective barrier. It is formulated with three essential ceramides (1, 3, and 6-II) and hyaluronic acid, which work together to replenish the lipid bilayer and retain moisture. The product utilizes a patented Multivesicular Emulsion (MVE) delivery technology, which allows for the controlled, sustained release of moisturizing ingredients over a 24-hour period. While primarily marketed as an over-the-counter (OTC) cosmetic moisturizer for dry skin and conditions like eczema, it has been evaluated in clinical trials for its efficacy in improving skin conditions associated with diabetes mellitus, such as xerosis and impaired barrier function.
