Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser is a dermatologist-developed topical skincare product formulated by CeraVe, a brand under L'Oréal. Its primary active ingredient is 0.5% salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that functions as a keratolytic agent. It works by dissolving the intercellular bonds between dead skin cells (corneocytes) in the stratum corneum, thereby exfoliating the skin and smoothing rough, bumpy textures. The formulation is specifically designed for conditions such as keratosis pilaris and acne-prone skin. In addition to its exfoliating properties, the cleanser incorporates three essential ceramides (1, 3, and 6-II) to restore the skin's natural barrier and hyaluronic acid to maintain hydration, ensuring the skin remains soft and non-irritated.
