Overview
Cerebiome is a proprietary psychobiotic formulation developed by Lallemand Health Solutions, consisting of two specific probiotic strains: *Lactobacillus helveticus* Rosell-52 and *Bifidobacterium longum* Rosell-175. It is specifically designed to target the gut-brain axis to support mental health, particularly in the management of stress, anxiety, and depression. The product works by modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis to reduce cortisol levels, decreasing systemic pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as TNF-alpha and IL-6), and promoting the production of neuroprotective factors. It is one of the most extensively researched probiotic combinations for mood disorders, with clinical evidence supporting its use as both a standalone supplement and an adjunct to conventional antidepressant therapy.
