Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cerebraca Wafer (EF-001) is a biodegradable implantable drug delivery system developed by Everfront Biotech for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). It consists of a wafer formulation containing EF-API-001, a novel small molecule designed to multi-target the AXL receptor tyrosine kinase, the PD-L1 immune checkpoint, and the MGMT DNA repair enzyme. By inhibiting AXL, the drug targets brain tumor stem cells to suppress growth and metastasis; by targeting PD-L1, it modulates the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment; and by inhibiting MGMT, it overcomes tumor resistance to alkylating chemotherapeutic agents like temozolomide. The wafer is surgically implanted into the brain cavity following tumor resection, providing sustained drug release and high local concentrations for approximately one month.
