Ceria-ALI is a nanoparticle-based RNA therapeutic developed by Ceria Therapeutics for the treatment of acute lung injury (ALI). The drug utilizes a cerium oxide nanoparticle (CNP) platform to deliver a microRNA-146a (miR-146a) mimic. Its mechanism of action involves the suppression of Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK1) and TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6), which are key signaling molecules in the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/NF-κB-mediated inflammatory pathway. By inhibiting this pathway, Ceria-ALI aims to reduce the hyper-inflammatory response associated with ALI and prevent progression to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The program is currently in the IND-enabling stage.
