Ceria-NHW topical

Ceria-NHW topical is an investigational topical RNA therapeutic being developed by Ceria Therapeutics for the treatment of non-healing wounds (NHW), such as diabetic foot ulcers and pressure ulcers. The drug is based on the proprietary CNP-miR146a platform, which consists of a microRNA-146a (miR-146a) mimic conjugated to cerium oxide nanoparticles (CNPs). This delivery system is designed to stabilize the miRNA and enhance its uptake into target cells. The mechanism of action involves the suppression of the inflammatory signaling proteins IRAK1 and TRAF6, which are typically overexpressed in chronic wounds. By inhibiting the TLR4/NF-κB-mediated inflammatory pathway, Ceria-NHW topical aims to resolve persistent inflammation and restore the normal physiological wound healing process. It is currently in preclinical development, with internal designations including CTX-004 (for mild-to-moderate wounds) and CTX-001 (for moderate-to-severe wounds).
