Cervical cancer-specific CAR-T cells is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by the Shenzhen Geno-Immune Medical Institute. The therapy is designed to treat patients with advanced, stage III/IV, or relapsed cervical cancer. It involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T-cells to express CARs that target specific tumor-associated antigens, including Ganglioside GD2, Glutamate carboxypeptidase 2 (PSMA), Mucin-1 (MUC1), and Mesothelin. These antigens are frequently overexpressed on the surface of cervical cancer cells. Once re-infused into the patient, the engineered T-cells recognize and bind to these targets, leading to the targeted destruction of the cancer cells. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT03356795) to determine its safety, feasibility, and clinical efficacy.
