Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Cetaphil Healing Ointment** is a nonprescription topical skin-protectant ointment developed and distributed by Galderma. Its active ingredient is **petrolatum 71.5%**, which forms a semi-occlusive physical barrier on the skin to reduce transepidermal water loss, protect damaged or irritated skin from external moisture and irritants, and support the natural repair of the epidermal barrier. The formulation also contains cetearyl ethylhexanoate, shea butter, beeswax, microcrystalline wax, and tocopheryl acetate. It is used for dry, chapped, cracked, irritated, or abraded skin and is labeled for minor cuts, scrapes, burns, chafing, and diaper rash. Galderma has also evaluated the product in clinical studies for mild-to-moderate diaper rash and post-procedural surgical wound care.
