Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cetaphil RestoraDerm Moisturizer is a therapeutic topical formulation developed by Galderma specifically for the management of atopic dermatitis (eczema). It utilizes a specialized "filaggrin technology" which incorporates breakdown products of the filaggrin protein, such as arginine and sodium pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA), to replenish the skin's natural moisturizing factors (NMF). Additionally, the moisturizer employs patented ceramide technology to restore and strengthen the impaired lipid barrier characteristic of sensitive, eczema-prone skin. The formulation includes niacinamide (Vitamin B3) for its anti-inflammatory and barrier-enhancing properties, alongside humectants like glycerin and panthenol to provide deep hydration. Clinically evaluated in Cochrane reviews, it has been shown to improve skin barrier function, reduce the frequency of flares, and enhance the efficacy of topical active treatments like corticosteroids when used as an adjunctive therapy.
