Cad Cold is an oral fixed-dose combination therapy developed by Boffin Biotech for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, influenza, and upper respiratory allergies. It is formulated as a tablet containing paracetamol (an analgesic and antipyretic), phenylephrine (a nasal decongestant), and cetirizine (a second-generation antihistamine). Paracetamol acts centrally to reduce fever and alleviate pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Phenylephrine is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that induces vasoconstriction in the nasal mucosa, thereby reducing nasal congestion and swelling. Cetirizine is a selective peripheral H1 histamine receptor antagonist that prevents allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes without causing significant sedation.
