Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Locet-D is a fixed-dose combination of the second-generation antihistamine cetirizine and the sympathomimetic nasal decongestant phenylephrine. Developed by Apostle Remedies, it is indicated for the symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergies, and nasal congestion. Cetirizine acts as a selective antagonist of peripheral histamine H1 receptors, preventing the allergic cascade that causes sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Phenylephrine acts as a selective agonist of alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, inducing vasoconstriction in the nasal passages to reduce swelling and alleviate congestion. The combination is marketed as an oral tablet formulation.
