Cetirizine + pseudoephedrine is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs: cetirizine, a second-generation antihistamine, and pseudoephedrine, a sympathomimetic decongestant. This oral medication is used to treat symptoms associated with seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis, such as nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, itching of the nose or throat, and watery eyes. Cetirizine works by selectively antagonizing peripheral histamine H1 receptor to block the effects of histamine released during allergic reactions. Pseudoephedrine acts as an agonist at adrenergic receptors in the nasal mucosa to constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling and congestion.
