Cetrelimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death 1 receptor (PD-1), an immune checkpoint protein expressed on T cells. By binding to PD-1, cetrelimab blocks its interaction with the ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby inhibiting negative regulation of T-cell activation. This results in enhanced T-cell-mediated immune responses against tumor cells. Cetrelimab has demonstrated antitumor activity in preclinical models and is being developed primarily for use in solid tumors, including bladder cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), melanoma, prostate cancer, and other malignancies. The drug was initially developed by Janssen Research & Development (a Johnson & Johnson company) and has reached phase 3 clinical trials for bladder cancer[1][4][5][6][7].
