Overview

Cetrorelix acetate + follitropin alfa is a combination used in assisted reproductive technology (ART), particularly for controlled ovarian stimulation protocols such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Cetrorelix acetate is a synthetic decapeptide and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist that prevents premature luteinizing hormone (LH) surges by competitively blocking GnRH receptors on pituitary cells. This suppresses the release of LH and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), thereby preventing premature ovulation[1][6][8]. Follitropin alfa is a recombinant form of human FSH that stimulates the development of ovarian follicles in women with infertility due to anovulation or as part of ART cycles. It acts directly on the ovaries to promote follicular growth[5]. The combination allows precise control over ovulation timing and increases the chances of successful egg retrieval during ART procedures.
