Overview

Cetuximab + dexamethasone is a combination regimen used primarily in oncology, especially for the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and metastatic colorectal cancer. Cetuximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), inhibiting downstream signaling pathways involved in tumor cell proliferation, survival, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties; it is commonly used as premedication to reduce infusion-related reactions (IRRs) associated with cetuximab administration and to manage chemotherapy-induced nausea or allergic responses. The combination does not represent a fixed-dose pharmaceutical product but rather a clinical practice of co-administration for supportive care during cetuximab therapy[1][2][3][4].
