CF-diTEG-docetaxel is an experimental nanoconjugate consisting of the taxane chemotherapy agent docetaxel covalently linked to a C60 fullerene (CF) scaffold via a di-triethylene glycol (diTEG) dicarboxylic acid linker. This drug delivery system is designed to improve the therapeutic index of docetaxel in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer by enhancing water solubility and providing pH-dependent drug release. The acidic environment of the tumor microenvironment triggers the release of docetaxel, potentially reducing systemic toxicity and overcoming drug resistance. Preclinical data demonstrate that the nanoconjugate possesses a particle size of approximately 122 nm, exhibits superior bioavailability (approximately six-fold increase) compared to free docetaxel, and shows enhanced cytotoxicity in breast cancer cell lines while maintaining high biocompatibility with red blood cells.
