Overview

cFK-9-USPIO is a targeted magnetic resonance (MR) molecular imaging nanoprobe designed to detect integrin αvβ6, a protein overexpressed in various tumors, including breast cancer. The agent consists of a novel RXDLXXL-coupled cyclic arginine-glycine-aspartate (RGD) nonapeptide (cFK-9) conjugated to N-amino-modified ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide (USPIO) nanoparticles. By binding specifically to integrin αvβ6, the nanoprobe facilitates the visualization of tumor progression and tumorigenesis via T2-weighted MRI. Preclinical studies in 4T1 mouse breast cancer models have demonstrated significant T2 signal reduction in tumors, indicating specific accumulation and potential for early cancer detection.
