Overview

CFM-4 (CARP-1 Functional Mimetic 4) is a first-in-class, small molecule inhibitor of the protein-protein interaction between cell division cycle and apoptosis regulator protein 1 (CARP-1/CCAR1) and the anaphase-promoting complex subunit 2 (APC-2/ANAPC2). Developed by Wayne State University, CFM-4 binds directly to CARP-1, preventing its association with APC-2, which subsequently leads to G2/M cell cycle arrest, upregulation of CARP-1 expression, and induction of apoptosis. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that CFM-4 effectively suppresses the growth, migration, and invasion of various cancer cell lines, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), medulloblastoma, and malignant pleural mesothelioma, even in drug-resistant phenotypes.
