CFTX-1554

CFTX-1554 is a novel, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of the angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2R), developed as a non-opioid analgesic for the treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain. The drug is designed to avoid centrally mediated side effects such as addiction and sedation, which are common with opioid therapies. Unlike previous AT2R-targeting compounds that failed in clinical development due to compound-specific issues, CFTX-1554 features improved interaction with the AT2R binding site and enhanced drug-like properties through Confo Therapeutics' proprietary CONFO technology. It was originally developed by Confo Therapeutics and has been globally licensed to Eli Lilly for further development. The drug is currently in Phase I clinical trials for peripheral neuropathic pain and was previously under investigation for fibrosis[1][3][5][6][8].
