Overview

CG-102-12C is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy under early-phase clinical investigation for the treatment of **advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)** that expresses glypican-3 (GPC3), a protein highly expressed on many liver cancer cells but largely absent from non-cancerous liver tissue. The drug consists of the patient’s own T cells genetically engineered to express a CAR targeting GPC3, allowing for **specific immune recognition and destruction of GPC3-positive tumor cells**. The trial explores safety, dose finding, persistence of CAR-T cells, and anti-tumor effect in patients who have failed standard therapies. CG-102-12C is developed by Cells & Genes Biotech (Shanghai) in collaboration with Zhejiang University, with research centers in China leading the first-in-human studies[1][2][6].
