CG-BM1 is an allogeneic human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (hBM-MSC) therapy developed by Guangzhou Cellgene Biotech. It is currently in clinical development for the treatment of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). The therapy utilizes the innate immunomodulatory and regenerative properties of mesenchymal stem cells to address the intense systemic inflammation and hepatic tissue damage characteristic of ACLF. When administered intravenously, these cells are thought to home to the liver and release a variety of paracrine factors, including anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors, which help to stabilize the immune response and promote the repair of damaged hepatocytes. The Phase 1 trial (NCT06386328) is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of CG-BM1 in this patient population.
