Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CG Gel (formerly CEGP-003) is an endoscopic hemostatic spray developed by CGBio. It is composed of a biocompatible, absorbable, and adhesive macromolecule containing hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) combined with epidermal growth factor (EGF). Upon contact with blood or gastrointestinal fluids, the HEC component rapidly absorbs water to form an adhesive gel barrier that concentrates platelets, red blood cells, and coagulation proteins, thereby accelerating mechanical hemostasis. Concurrently, the EGF component binds to epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) to promote mucosal wound healing by activating intracellular pathways and stimulating the synthesis of hyaluronan and aquaporin-3. CG Gel is approved in South Korea for the treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding, including bleeding associated with peptic ulcers and post-endoscopic resection (EMR/ESD).
