CG-LR1 is a first-in-class GalNAc-conjugated small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic being developed by Lerna Biopharma (formerly Cargene Therapeutics) for the treatment of chronic liver diseases, including liver cirrhosis and liver fibrosis. Discovered through the proprietary Quartz target discovery platform, CG-LR1 targets integrin alpha FG-GAP repeat containing 1 (ITFG1). By utilizing RNA interference to reduce ITFG1 expression, the drug aims to leverage the liver's innate regenerative capacity, potentially sustaining or improving liver function and offering an alternative to liver transplantation. It is currently in preclinical development and is designed for targeted delivery to hepatocytes.
