CG-LR2 is a preclinical-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic being developed by Lerna Biopharma (formerly Cargene Therapeutics) for the treatment of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), also known as Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). The drug is designed to silence a specific, currently undisclosed, target gene involved in the progression of liver disease through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway. By reducing the expression of this target mRNA, CG-LR2 aims to mitigate liver inflammation and fibrosis, addressing the underlying pathology of MASH. The development of CG-LR2 is part of Lerna Biopharma's broader pipeline of siRNA therapeutics focused on liver and ophthalmic disorders.
