Overview
CG-SpikeDown is an investigational peptide drug developed for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The drug acts by binding to the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, thereby inhibiting viral entry into host cells. It is administered via the intranasal route and is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers. The developer and sponsor of this drug is Caregen, a South Korean company specializing in biomimetic peptides[1][2][3][4][5].
