CG011 is a biosimilar candidate of denosumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody developed by Shanghai ComGen Biopharmaceutical. It is designed to target and inhibit the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL), a protein essential for the formation, function, and survival of osteoclasts. By binding to RANKL, CG011 prevents the activation of its receptor, RANK, on the surface of osteoclasts and their precursors, thereby reducing bone resorption and increasing bone mineral density. The drug is primarily being developed for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis and the prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors. It has entered early-stage clinical trials in China to evaluate its safety and pharmacokinetic equivalence to the reference product.
