CDK2 is a key regulator of the cell cycle, specifically the G1/S transition, and its dysregulation is implicated in the progression of various cancers, including breast, ovarian, and lung cancers. By utilizing Cullgen's proprietary uSMITE (ubiquitin-mediated small molecule induced target elimination) platform, CG012838 aims to overcome the limitations of traditional CDK2 inhibitors, such as lack of selectivity or compensatory mechanisms, by physically removing the protein from the cell via the ubiquitin-proteasome system. The drug is currently in early-stage development for the treatment of multiple oncology indications.
