Overview
CG7870 is a replication-selective, prostate-specific antigen-targeted oncolytic adenovirus developed as an investigational therapy for hormone-refractory, metastatic prostate cancer. It is genetically engineered to replicate preferentially in prostate tissue by utilizing prostate-specific transcription elements to control key early viral genes, thereby selectively attacking and killing tumor cells while sparing healthy tissue. The drug has been evaluated in phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials for metastatic castration-resistant and locally recurrent prostate cancer. Its mechanism of action involves direct lysis of tumor cells through selective viral replication within the malignant tissue.
