Overview

CGEN-241 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic candidate discovered by Compugen Ltd. using its proprietary computational platform. It is a novel splice variant of the CD276 antigen, also known as B7-H3, which is a member of the B7 family of immune checkpoint proteins. B7-H3 is known to play a complex role in immune regulation, exhibiting both co-stimulatory and co-inhibitory effects, though it is predominantly recognized for its immunosuppressive role in the tumor microenvironment. CGEN-241 was investigated for its potential to modulate these pathways, with applications explored in both oncology, where it could act as an antagonist to enhance anti-tumor immunity, and autoimmune diseases, where it could act as an agonist to suppress unwanted immune responses. Despite its early promise as a computationally discovered target, the CGEN-241 program has not progressed to clinical development, and Compugen has prioritized other checkpoint candidates such as PVRIG (COM701) and TIGIT (COM902).
