Overview

CGN-1 is an engineered, neurotropic adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid developed by Capsigen using its proprietary TRADE (Targeted Remote AAV Determinant Engineering) platform. It serves as a proof-of-concept case study demonstrating the platform's ability to create vectors with enhanced tropism for the central nervous system (CNS). While CGN-1 itself is not a clinical drug candidate, the technology behind it is utilized in strategic collaborations, such as with Biogen, to develop gene therapies for CNS and neuromuscular indications. The capsid is designed to enable more efficient and targeted delivery of genetic payloads to brain and spinal cord tissues compared to naturally occurring AAV serotypes.
