Overview

CH0505 is a recombinant HIV-1 envelope (Env) protein immunogen designed for use in preventative HIV vaccine regimens. It is based on the transmitted/founder (T/F) virus sequence identified in an HIV-infected individual (Subject CH0505) who naturally developed a potent lineage of broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs), known as the CH103 lineage, which targets the CD4 binding site. The CH0505 immunogen is utilized in various structural formats, including monomeric gp120 and stabilized SOSIP trimers, to initiate and guide the affinity maturation of B-cell lineages toward the production of bNAbs. Developed by the Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) with support from the NIAID, CH0505-based vaccines are currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials to determine their safety and ability to elicit targeted immune responses in healthy volunteers.
