Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CH5-AS is an avian influenza vaccine candidate targeting the H5 subtype, specifically the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) H5N8 clade 2.3.4.4b. It is being developed as part of Japan's pandemic preparedness strategy by the Strategic Center of Biomedical Advanced Vaccine Research and Development for Preparedness and Response (SCARDA) and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED). The vaccine is designed to elicit protective immune responses against the hemagglutinin (HA) protein of the virus. In clinical trials, it is administered as a two-dose intramuscular injection to healthy adults to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity, with the goal of establishing a stockpile or rapid response capability for potential H5 clade 2.3.4.4b pandemics.
