CH505 w24 mRNA-gp160 is an investigational mRNA-based HIV vaccine candidate developed and sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). It encodes the full-length, untruncated HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein gp160 derived from the week-24 viral sequence of the CH505 individual, who was part of a longitudinal study of HIV envelope evolution. The vaccine is designed as part of a sequential B-cell lineage immunization strategy, which aims to elicit broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) targeting the CD4 binding site (CD4bs) by mimicking the natural maturation of the immune response. In clinical development, it is being evaluated in Phase 1 trials as a booster component alongside other CH505-derived immunogens to assess safety and immunogenicity in healthy, HIV-negative adults.
