Overview

CH505TF gp120 + GLA-SE is an experimental HIV-1 vaccine candidate consisting of a recombinant HIV-1 envelope (Env) protein immunogen formulated with a synthetic adjuvant. The active antigen, CH505TF gp120, is derived from a clade C transmitted/founder (TF) virus, specifically designed to trigger the development of B-cell precursors that can eventually mature into broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs). The vaccine is adjuvanted with GLA-SE, an oil-in-water stable emulsion containing glucopyranosyl lipid A (GLA), which acts as a synthetic Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist to enhance the innate and adaptive immune responses. Developed by the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) in collaboration with the Duke Human Vaccine Institute and the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI), the vaccine has been evaluated in the HVTN 135 Phase 1 trial to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy, HIV-exposed uninfected infants.
