Overview

ChAd155-hIi-HBV is a recombinant, replication-defective simian (chimpanzee-derived) group C adenovirus serotype 155 (ChAd155) viral vector-based DNA vaccine developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. The vector encodes a fusion protein comprising two hepatitis B virus (HBV) antigens: a truncated core nucleocapsid protein antigen (HBc) and the full-length small surface antigen (HBs), separated by a self-cleaving 2A region from foot-and-mouth disease virus to allow processing into separate proteins. Additionally, the N-terminal part of the gene encoding HBc is fused to human MHC class II-associated invariant chain p35 isoform (hIi), which enhances T-cell responses. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly and aims to stimulate both humoral and cellular immune responses against HBV antigens as an immunostimulant therapeutic approach for chronic hepatitis B[1][2][3][5][6].
