Overview

**ChAdOx1 biEBOV** is an investigational bivalent, replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus-vectored vaccine developed by the University of Oxford for prevention of Ebola virus disease and Sudan virus disease. The single ChAdOx1 vector encodes the glycoproteins of Ebola virus and Sudan virus, stimulating antigen-specific humoral and cellular immune responses against both filoviruses. In a first-in-human UK phase 1 study, the vaccine was reported to be safe, well tolerated, and immunogenic, generating binding antibodies to both encoded glycoproteins; a phase 1b study has also evaluated the candidate in Tanzania. ChAdOx1 biEBOV is not licensed. Although it elicited antibody responses in cynomolgus macaques, it did not protect those animals against lethal Sudan virus challenge in a published nonhuman-primate study.
