ChAdOx1-MVA 5T4 is a viral vector-based cancer vaccine designed to stimulate an immune response against the oncofetal antigen 5T4, which is expressed in various cancers including prostate cancer. The vaccine uses a prime-boost strategy involving two replication-deficient viral vectors: chimpanzee adenovirus (ChAdOx1) for priming and modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) for boosting. This approach aims to induce both T cell and antibody responses specific to the 5T4 antigen. Developed by Barinthus Biotherapeutics (formerly Vaccitech) in collaboration with the University of Oxford, it has shown immunogenicity and tolerability in early-phase clinical trials for prostate cancer[3][2][1]. The highest reported development phase is Phase II for prostate cancer[3].
