ChAdOx1 tHIVconsvX is a replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus-vectored vaccine candidate designed for the prevention and treatment of HIV-1 infection. Developed through a collaboration involving the Jenner Institute at the University of Oxford and Ospedale San Raffaele, the vaccine utilizes the ChAdOx1 platform to deliver the tHIVconsvX immunogen. This immunogen is a second-generation trivalent mosaic consisting of highly conserved regions of the HIV-1 proteome, specifically segments from the Gag, Pol, Vif, and Env proteins. By targeting these functionally essential and mutationally constrained regions, the vaccine aims to elicit broad and potent T-cell immune responses capable of recognizing multiple global HIV-1 clades and preventing viral escape. It is frequently evaluated in heterologous prime-boost regimens, often in combination with the MVA tHIVconsvX vaccine.
