Overview

ChAdOx1.HIVconsv62 is a therapeutic viral vector vaccine candidate developed by the University of Oxford for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It utilizes the replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus Oxford 1 (ChAdOx1) platform to deliver a 'mosaic' immunogen, HIVconsv62, which is composed of highly conserved regions of the HIV-1 proteome (including Gag, Pol, Vif, and Env). The mosaic design is intended to provide broad coverage across different HIV-1 subtypes and minimize the risk of viral mutational escape. In clinical trials, it is often evaluated as part of a heterologous prime-boost regimen alongside other viral vectors (such as MVA-vectored vaccines) and immune modulators like TLR7 agonists or broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) to induce durable T-cell-mediated control of the viral reservoir in patients undergoing analytic treatment interruption (ATI).
