ChAdOx1.HTI is an experimental therapeutic vaccine candidate for HIV infection, designed to elicit strong cellular immune responses against HIV by targeting conserved regions of the virus through a novel T-cell immunogen called HTI (HIVACAT T-cell Immunogen). The vaccine uses a non-replicating chimpanzee adenovirus vector (ChAdOx1) to deliver the HTI immunogen and is typically administered as part of a heterologous prime-boost regimen with other vectors such as DNA.HTI and MVA.HTI[2][3][5]. Developed initially by Aelix Therapeutics in collaboration with academic partners from the HIVACAT program in Spain, ChAdOx1.HTI has shown safety and high immunogenicity in early-phase clinical trials involving people living with HIV who are on antiretroviral therapy[2][5][7]. The mechanism of action involves inducing robust, broad-spectrum anti-HIV T cell responses that may contribute to viral control during treatment interruption[5][7]. Gilead has acquired rights to this asset from Aelix Therapeutics for further development[2].
