Overview

ChAdOx2 CCHF is an investigational viral vector vaccine developed by the University of Oxford to prevent Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF). It utilizes the ChAdOx2 platform, a replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus vector, to deliver the genetic sequence for the glycoprotein of the CCHF virus (CCHFV). This glycoprotein serves as the primary antigen to induce protective immune responses. The vaccine is designed to address the high mortality rate and lack of approved vaccines for CCHF, a tick-borne viral disease. Clinical development includes first-in-human trials assessing safety, immunogenicity, and the impact of age on immune responses using fine-needle aspiration of lymph nodes.
