ChAdOx2 HAV is a recombinant viral vector vaccine candidate developed to target Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP), a bacterium implicated in the pathogenesis of Crohn’s disease. The vaccine uses the ChAdOx2 platform, which is a simian adenovirus vector engineered to express antigens from MAP. Its mechanism involves inducing an immune response against MAP, potentially reducing bacterial load and improving clinical outcomes in Crohn’s disease patients. The vaccine has been evaluated both as a single agent and as part of a heterologous prime-boost regimen with MVA HAV (Modified Vaccinia Ankara expressing MAP antigens). Clinical trials have focused on assessing safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy volunteers and patients with active Crohn's disease[1][2][3][4].
