It is specifically designed to treat influenza A in patients presenting with the 'external cold and internal heat' syndrome. It has been evaluated in prospective cohort studies in China to compare its clinical efficacy and safety against the standard antiviral medication oseltamivir in patients aged 14 to 80 years.
