Chaihu nasal spray

Chaihu nasal spray is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)-derived pharmaceutical candidate developed by researchers at Fudan University for the treatment of the common cold and fever. The formulation utilizes the volatile oils or active components, such as saikosaponins, extracted from Radix Bupleuri (Chaihu). It is designed for intranasal administration to provide rapid antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects by facilitating absorption through the nasal mucosa, potentially bypassing first-pass metabolism and offering a faster onset of action compared to traditional oral TCM formulations. The drug aims to reduce body temperature and alleviate symptoms associated with upper respiratory tract infections through the modulation of inflammatory mediators.
