Chaihu Qianzheng San

Chaihu Qianzheng San is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily used for the treatment of facial paralysis, such as Bell's palsy, and related neurological conditions. It is a modification of the classic "Qianzheng San" formula, which typically consists of *Typhonium giganteum* (Bai Fu Zi), *Bombyx mori* (Jiang Can), and *Buthus martensii* (Quan Xie). The addition of *Bupleurum chinense* (Chaihu) is intended to soothe the liver, regulate Qi, and guide the other medicinal components to the Shaoyang meridian, which is often involved in facial nerve disorders. The formula works by dispelling wind, resolving phlegm, and unblocking the meridians to restore facial muscle function. Pharmacologically, it is thought to exert anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects, promoting the recovery of the facial nerve and improving local microcirculation.
