Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chaihuang Lidan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Shijiazhuang Yiling Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic cholecystitis and cholelithiasis (gallstones) associated with the TCM syndrome of damp-heat in the liver and gallbladder. The medication is a multi-herb combination typically containing extracts from *Bupleurum chinense* (Chaihu), *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huangqin), *Curcuma longa* (Jianghuang), *Rheum palmatum* (Dahuang), *Artemisia capillaris* (Yinchen), and *Aucklandia lappa* (Muxiang). Its therapeutic mechanism involves soothing the liver, clearing heat, and promoting the secretion and flow of bile (choleretic effect), while also providing anti-inflammatory and analgesic benefits. It is commonly administered orally in capsule or granule form to alleviate symptoms such as right hypochondriac pain, abdominal fullness, and digestive discomfort.
