Overview
Chaihuguizhiganjiang-suanzaoren decoction granules (CSG) is an investigational Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed as a granule formulation. It is a combination of two classical TCM decoctions: the Chaihuguizhiganjiang decoction and the Suanzaoren (Ziziphus spinosa seed) decoction. The formula is specifically designed to treat primary insomnia in patients presenting with the TCM syndrome pattern of 'spleen deficiency and liver heat.' It is currently being evaluated in a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial in China, sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission. The treatment aims to harmonize the liver and spleen to improve sleep quality, as assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) over an 8-week treatment period.
